New & Improved
Everest Academy
Outdoor Adventure Club

Fresh Air Family now has coordinators in North Alabama, Central Alabama, and South Alabama which will enable Everest Academy to have North Alabama, Central Alabama, and South Alabama Clubs.  Please note you are not limited to the events in your area.
  • Who:  All homeschoolers welcome!
  • What:  Awesome outdoor group that goes on monthly outdoor adventures including a comprehensive natural science program which will be guided by expert naturalists and college professors.  You will enjoy unique places in Alabama, some of which are not open to the public.  These outdoor adventures would cost you upwards of $1,200 per year if you were to plan these on your own.
  • Where: Different outdoor locations throughout the state of Alabama.
  • Fee: $25.00 per family for the WHOLE year - even if you are only able to attend one event, it would be well worth it to join. This fee will cover most of the events. Canoeing or camping trip may require an additional fee. 
  • When:  Most events will be held on Thursdays.  See schedule below.


Tentative Schedule for Central Alabama:

  • August 21 -  Orr Park guided tour by artist Tim Tingle, picnic, swimming
     
  • September - Nature Program & Swim at Turkey Creek Nature Preserve
     
  • October - Camping at Dauphin Island
     
  • November 14 - Paleontological Dig
     
  • December - Fairy Houses at DeSoto State Park
  • January - Salamander Run (on call).  TBA
     
  • February - TBA
     
  • March - Herbal/medicinal native plant hike
     
  • April - Equestrian Camp
     
  • May - Little River Falls swimming
     
  • June - Turkey Creek education program & swimming
     
  • July - Rickwood Caverns cave tour and swimming
     
  • August - Oak Mountain nature art program, treetop hike, petting farm, swim, wildlife center.

  • September 3 - Caney Creek Falls Hike & Swim
  • October - Camping at Dauphin Island
     
  • November 5 - Nature Walk, Wheeler Wildlife Preserve
     
  • December 3 - Shoreline Fossil Walk, Joe Wheeler State Park
     
  • January 7 - Fall Creek Falls Hike, Sipsey Wilderness, Bankhead N. F.
     
  • February 4 - Geology Hike, Cane Creek Canyon Nature Preserve
     
  • March 4 - Turkey Foot Creek Hike, Sipsey Wilderness, Bankhead N. F.
     
  • April 1 - Wildflower Hike, Desoto State Park
     
  • May 6 - Nature Hike, Sinks Trail, Monte Sano State Park
     
  • June 3 - Nature Hike, Devil’s Racetrack at Wade Mountain Preserve
     
  • July 1 - Tree Identification “101” Hike, Shoal Creek Preserve
  • August 5 - Nature Walk and Swimming at the Dismals.

  • Sept. 3rd- Turtle point
  • Oct.1st- The little Zoo that could ( gulf shores zoo)
